The Co-op Office is always available for support whether students are participating in an academic term or a work term. If problems arise, students must make them known to the Co-op Office. We can be reached via email, telephone, or in person.
The Co-op Office will only send emails to students via their "@myumanitoba.ca" accounts.
Site Visits
Site visits are conducted by the Co-op Coordinator approximately halfway through each work term. The purpose of site visits varies slightly depending upon which work term it is, but in general they are an opportunity for the Co-op Office to:
- Monitor site conditions
- Receive comments from industry
- Review current standards and developments
- Build relationships with both employers and students
Each site visit will be comprised of two interviews. The first interview will be with the employer, student, and Co-op Coordinator. A private interview will then take place between the student and the Co-op Coordinator. An interview with the employer and Co-op Coordinator will be arranged if requested.
Work Term Reporting Requirements
Students are required to submit Work Term Reports at the completion of each work term. In addition, Work Term III students must complete a Reflexion Exercise prior to their site visit.
Work Term Reports and the Reflexion Exercise can be found on the UM Learn website.
Web form submissions are required prior to the Co-op Office submitting pass or fail grades for the work term.
